Navigating raising a child comes with many different struggles, and joys. As many know, raising a child is not a “one size fits all” task.
If you have a child that has prominent air sign energy (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) in their Big 6, you’ll be in for a treat of curiosity, communication, and innovation. This comes from air signs naturally gravitating towards intellectual curiosity, connection to others, a deep need for socializing, and for mental stimulation.
As a parent, it can be a struggle at times to know what’s right for your kid and what they need emotionally, mentally, and for continual growth in their character. In this article, we’ll continue to explore how each sign specifically benefits from being nurtured in various ways, ensuring growth that aligns with their natal inclinations.
Gemini in your child's Big 6
Nurturing a Gemini child (or even one’s inner child), involves giving much room for their curious and communicative nature to come through. Oftentimes, these souls thrive in environments where they can be mentally stimulated, while also having opportunities to learn. At times, Gemini’s can come off overwhelmed from too much stimulation (yes, we’re looking at you, Gemini Moons) and this may lend to them being perceived as cold or distant.
By providing an environment where this soul can be encouraged by giving access to different learning opportunities (books, puzzles, and other interactive/hands-on activities) that continue to expand their knowledge, is one of the best ways to promote growth and stimulation for the Gemini child. Better yet, to incorporate the social need for interaction and communication, this would be a perfect time for you to bond with them. Additionally, when they’re engaging in deep or meaningful conversations with you, try your best to show them that they have your attention and that you’re engaged with what they’re saying. By showing disinterest when they’re talking, this could wound their soul, as it’s very important to who they are at their core to connect through communication and sharing ideas. Validating their thoughts and allowing them to feel heard encourages further exploration. Offering thoughtful feedback and engagement is also great for their emotional well-being.
When it comes to their struggles with overstimulation, it’s equally as important to be able to help calm them down so they can “level out.” As Gemini is so quick-minded, this can lead to them feeling mentally fatigued. If you’re in a setting where you can have them take 10-15 minute breaks every so often while learning, or when they’re involved in deep-thinking, this can allow them some mental time to rest. Perhaps try to get them to meditate or focus on their breath with you. By incorporating mindfulness techniques into their routines, this can provide overall balance.
Libra in your child's Big 6
When it comes to nurturing a Libra child (or one’s inner child), first and foremost, it’s important to realize how important harmony and balance is to them. They are represented by the scales, after all. By creating a space where the Libra feels they are at peace, and have a harmonious environment is one of the best things you can do for the overall well being of a Libra. Bonus points if they can have an aesthetically pleasing environment, or at least their bedroom. This will continue to allow them to promote their love and appreciation for balance and beauty. Libra’s thrive when there’s balance, and order around them in their life.
In addition to promoting balance, having them in situations where they can continue to grow their natural social skills is very fulfilling for them. Whether it’s through sports, art classes, or other social activities where they’re surrounded by others. By encouraging them to build meaningful and healthy relationships, their soul will be at peace.
Libra’s are often known for their struggles with making decisions. If you see them struggling with decisions, try to gently guide them instead of making them question themselves more. Allow them to make decisions, and know that it’s okay for them to make mistakes along the way. By over making decisions for them, they won’t build their own self-confidence in this area.
Nurturing a Libra means to not just be a parent, but also be a supportive companion. By letting them know that they have a companion around for mundane tasks, if they wish, can be very comforting. As mentioned, Libra’s are represented by the scales, this is due to their need for balance. Having conflict in the home can be very distressing for a Libra. Having a home environment where there is open, honest, and respectful communication is key for their emotional well-being.
Aquarius in your child's Big 6
To nurture an Aquarius child (or one with Aquairus in their Big 6), allow and let them know that it’s okay (and great) for them to embrace their unique, innovative, and unconventional spirit. An Aquarian spirit does best when they are given freedom without judgment to explore their interests and express themselves. Giving hands-on learning and bringing in new concepts to experiment with will allow their minds to continue to grow and roam freely in their imagination.
You may often find that your Aquarian child gravitates towards science experiments, creative arts, exploring unconventional hobbies (Astronomy, other cultures and languages, Astrology, etc) and problem solving games. These types of hands-on playing allows them to dive into their passions, imagination, and innovative thinking. This could be a better route for them opposed to reading or even structured learning, depending on what the rest of their Big 6 looks like.
From a connection standpoint as the parents, it’s crucial to encourage open conversations (without judgment), support their independence, foster individuality, create a stimulating environment ( learning and innovative experiences), support their values (no matter how different they could be from yours) and encourage their social connections. Incorporating these into your parenting style can allow the Aquarian to feel supported and heard.
Similar to the other air signs, it’s important for an Aquarius child to have friends with similar interests. As they’re often unique minded, it’s important for them to have a community where they can feel related to and comfortable. Make sure you help provide them outlets through clubs, or activities to be surrounded by other children who are similar. Often feeling like the “black sheep”, they may struggle with their peers. On days such as this, continue to remind them how special they are and that it’s okay to be different! They make the world a more interesting place.
In addition to air signs, it's likely your child has other signs in their Big 6. For more information, check out our blogs on nurturing the fire child and on nurturing the water child.
