Amidst US elections, wars, and natural disasters, Chappell Roan's meteoric rise to fame might seem insignificant at first glance. However, a closer look reveals deeper questions about our societal structures—particularly how we idolize celebrities while often feeling a sense of ownership over them. This situation also illustrates our transition from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius.
There are many interesting aspects of her and her music, such as how it brings back elements of the '90s and '00s, how her songs openly embrace her LGBTQ identity with drag queen makeup and lesbian love songs, and the fact that her fame came to her unwillingly.
That's right—Chappell Roan didn’t want to be famous. She has expressed this sentiment for quite some time, most recently on TikTok, where she shared her frustration about being asked for pictures by strangers. This honesty has led to some backlash, raising the question: how can astrology explain this phenomenon?
The Astrology Behind Chappell Roan
Chappel Roan's Birth Chart, February 19th 1998, 22:05 in Willard (MO) USA
The first thing we notice in her birth chart is that the majority of her planetary placements are on the bottom side. The only exceptions are Lilith, North Node, and Vertex. But what does that mean? While the upper part of a person's chart explains the public side of their life, the bottom chart focuses more on private aspects. This already explains her lack of desire to be known and recognized. When Astrologers discuss famous people, they often note many placements in their 10th and 11th houses, which deal with career recognition, social circles, and life goals.
Chappell Roan has only one placement above the horizon line—the North Node in her 11th house—representing her life purpose and how it involves sharing her creativity and ideas with others. That creativity is shown by her South Node in the 5th house, which represents her past life, along with her Sun, Jupiter, Mars, and Mercury. Having her Sun, Mars, and Mercury (her personal planets) in the same house is called a Stellium. It’s a focus of energy in that particular area of life, which, in this case, is youth, playfulness, creativity, arts, and children.
She also has her Jupiter, the planet of expansion and wisdom, there, sitting in the sign of Pisces, making it exalted (even more powerful). What's interesting is that her Mercury, which rules communication, voice, and logical thinking, sits at 29 degrees, often associated with fame.
Notable placements include her Sun and Mars in Pisces, a sign known for its creative energy and tendency toward escapism. This energy is evident in the song “Pink Pony Club,” which is about leaving her hometown to dance at the club, even if it disappoints her mother.
Transits contributing to her success
Chappel Roan's Transit chart for September 2023
Although it’s hard to pinpoint when Chappell Roan started becoming famous, tracking her songs provides clearer insight. "Pink Pony Club" came out in 2020 and began gaining traction gradually since 2021, largely due to TikTok. Then, on September 22, 2023, she released her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. This was just before the transitioning Black Moon Lilith, which represents hidden desires, sexual liberation, and boundary-setting, entered her 11th house on September 23, 2023. Notably at this time
Saturn also formed a conjunction to her native Sun, bringing a need to take new responsibilities and redefine goals. Since then, it seems her career has skyrocketed, leading to increased fame. Wherever Lilith influences our lives, issues with boundaries, frustrations, and sexuality come into play—exactly what seems to have happened in this case.
A Major Hit: "Good Luck Babe"
Later, on April 4, 2024, she released her song “Good Luck Babe,” which quickly peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. This song is about moving on from a past relationship and resonates with many as a tale of empowerment and boundary-setting. It narrates the story of loving a woman who denies her queerness and settles for a relationship with a man. While some find the song sad, it features an upbeat melody and emphasizes embracing one’s true self and establishing boundaries with loved ones. This quickly became one of the songs that made Chappell Roan recognizable, and it aligns closely with the theme of Lilith. Another influence of Lilith in her life is how it reinforced her need to set boundaries.
The Burden of Recognition
Chappel Roan's Transit chart on October 11th, 2024
Chappell Roan has expressed her unhappiness with her fame, describing it as an “abusive ex-husband.” She has been uncomfortable with strangers following her, asking for pictures, and demanding her attention. Many are upset with her for this, with articles titled “Chappell Roan and the Big Controversy!” emerging, as some struggle to understand her perspective. While it’s common for famous individuals to dislike their stalkers or those who take things too far, Chappell Roan isn't just addressing that; she’s speaking to everyone who approaches her for a picture. She questions why people feel entitled to a stranger's time and attention simply because they enjoy her art and music.
With her transiting Sun and Lilith being in her 12th house she might feel a temporary need to isolate herself from people and retract into her inner world which can be challenging at this level of international fame. Her Mars on the other hand is approaching her 10th house, giving her strength and confidence to assert herself in the public eye.
Finding Balance in Chaos
Although Chappell expresses gratitude for connecting with her fans and enjoying performing on stage, she seems to desire a balance where, at the end of the day, she can change into regular clothes without being disturbed. Interestingly, even the name Chappell Roan is a stage persona she curated for herself. Her strong enforcement of boundaries is something not often seen among celebrities, but why is that?
I find it intriguing how this coincides with Pluto entering Aquarius earlier this year, particularly as it prepares to re-enter for good on November 19, remaining there for the next 20 years. Pluto, as a generational planet, signifies significant changes over time and globally. When it enters Aquarius, we’ll likely feel a stronger need for individualism and humanitarianism, leading us to be less influenced by celebrities and authority figures. We are currently transitioning from the Pisces era to the Aquarius era, suggesting that our perceptions of celebrities and celebrity culture will evolve over the coming years, albeit slowly.
People like Chappell Roan play a significant role in this shift. As challenging as it may be, I believe it’s something she needs to navigate, given that her life purpose centers around her 11th house. She is meant to share her creativity, art, ideas, and wisdom with the world for the greater good.
I believe she is already making strides by teaching people to respect her boundaries and, by extension, the boundaries of other celebrities. She is doing something entirely new, reinventing her image and the broader concept of fame. Although her North Node is in Virgo, indicating a life purpose of being more grounded and of service to others, it sometimes involves confronting uncomfortable truths and offering insights into what is wrong with the system and how to fix it.
We can only hope Chappell Roan finds balance or achieves her goal of getting people to stop bothering her outside of work hours. She has already indicated that if the fame becomes overwhelming, she might quit music, and that would indeed be a shame! Other significant current transits would be Saturn in the 5th house, which represents karmic lessons and can bring the best or the worst in a person's life depending on if they worked on themselves. As Saturn moves through her house of fun, it’ll give her lessons on how to be more responsible as a creative person. During that time, it will also be affecting her planets: Jupiter, Mars, and Sun until it leaves and enters her 6th house of routines and health in the middle of 2025.
Before then, in February 2025, her transiting North Node will enter her 5th house, which will put her focus on her creative expression and fun and away from fame. Because of this context, I don’t believe Chappell will move away from music but rather from the light and fame. She might give herself a break and continue to make music but in privacy.
